THE

DESERT RATT

The Ratt , is the first build utilizing our newly designed T-2 Recreational chassis. This unit will be running a huge 496 cid big block chevy ! With the hot cam kit and the custom headers and throttlebody , we can expect 525HP out of the beast ! We will also be running the ORI DP-3 shocks on this rig ! I believe this will be the first set ever on a rock racing rig !!

We have a ton of first time components going into this build. We have one of the first sets of the brand new 42"x 20" swamper sx2 , we have an all new racepak 9 series dash , we have a brand new 7" GPS and the onlt set of 20" black teflon TR beadlocks ever !! We also are running a set of ORI full air adjustable struts ! Alpine will be supplying the the jams through 2 , 10" subs and will be remote controlled!! Heaters and windsheilds , and soft tops will seperate this rig from the crowd !!

We have plans for a set of 54" swampers to help show this rig off at shows and with all the " Bling" this buggy is sportin , we hope to get a lot attention !

You start to see the paint theme coming across when you look at the black on black 20" beed locks !! OH YEA, those are the brand new Swamper SX2's on 20" TR Locks !!

Check out the wicked axle trussing on that monster rear end !!!

You can also see the black ORI struts we're running on this rig !! Nothing but the best , most hi-tech components are being used for this build , but you will never no it by looking at the RAT packaging!
 
The welds are perfect everywhere you look, and this project is about to get skinned !!
Now in roller form, the custom aluminum panels , aluminum dash , console, fire walls , and radiator , can all be mounted! We have the crossmembers for the Atlas 4-speed completed and our custom fuel is just about done, and we can do our overhead mounts for the taillights and intercom systems!! We are fairly new at the custom aluminum work , so we want to really make this one stand out from the crowd , keep an eye on this !!!

With KOH coming up quickly , we are planning on having to race this rig ! What that means is a couple of changes in our game plan for the Desert Ratt !!

First we are going to run a bit more reliable engine. An 8.1 L. 496cid is going to be slid between the frame rails , and a 25 gal. fuel cell will be built to feed the beast ! It won't be 800hp , but it will be over 500hp and more reliable!
A 25 gal. fuel cell was custom built to fit the rear end taper , and radiator mounts are finalized. Skid plating and floor pans are just about completed and then we can begin building the custom headers for our 496cid.
We have got our light bar , seats, and storage tray built and it's starting to get close to tear down time!!

The head lights look nasty...kinda like a rat! The interior is roomy and and way sanitary , clean and neat !! I don't care where your from this thing is dead sexy ! A little creepy.... but sexy !!

 

OH YEAAA... in case you didn't notice , those humungus shocks are the

brand new DP-3's . The absolute baddest shocks on the planet !!

Let the testing begin !!

We generally test equipment at Independence trail in Penrose. It make for some great technical wheeling and it will let you know if there are weak links in your equipment !!
The first test run went great ! A small tranny leak and that was it ! We will be hitting the trail hard for the next week , and when we're convinced everything is perfect we'll tear it all down for powder coating !!
