We have been having a good year so far , and have built a few pretty trick buggies in 2009. Only a couple rear engine cars have gone out of our facility , mostly comp rigs , and only two 2-seaters !! Most racers and enthusiast will recognize Ray Mandels XRRA dominating Adrenaline 2-seater ! This was our # two rear engine 2-seater , we learned alot from this rig... good and bad !! From every build you learn what you like and what you don't like, what works and what doesn't !!! When you design a new car from ground up , it usually takes 3 tries to get it right , to get all the bugs out of it , and to create a reliable , competitive , and dominate rig !! Introducing our # 3 !!

A LIL' SIDEWAYS is a rear engine 2-seater project that is pure race car !! It will look sweet  , but performance is the top priority for this rig !! From the ground up it is all about speed !! Heres the build sheet...

With competitive offroad racing constantly changing , vehicles need to change with it. Courses have gone from a couple hundred yards long , to a hundred miles long !! For this reason , we want our next generation of race cars to be more reliable than ever before , they have to be ! All the components used in this build will be the best! Easy to work on , shock mounted , light weight , ultra durable! A driver may be a hundred miles away from diagnostic equipment , welders , parts and tools , when a problem arises , so the car needs to be simple to repair in the feild for the driver.
Mechanical issues are easy to find and repair for most racers , but electrical issues can be very difficult to diagnose , and can take a car out of a race quickly ! For this reason, we are keeping the electronics to a minimum. We have chosen Howell Electronics to provide us a simple reliable wiring harness and fuel injection system , based on a GM throttle body. They will provide us with a custom tuned computer so we're not giving up any performance , and parts to carry in the car will be minimum and easy to repair on the trail if ever needed ! We will also be using manual guages rather than an electrical/ digital dash type.

We know there are plenty of top quality units out there , but again , reliablity and ease of repair on the trail is our number 1 goal ! We have also fought the urge to jump on the IFS band wagon. Independent suspension diffenatly has it's place , but I'm not convinced it's in the rocks !! For this reason , we have chosen Spider 9's for our axles , and a friend told us about a 9.5" gearset that will be a reliable , quality peice and again provide a bullet proof foundation!

With the "new " style of rock racing , we have gone back to the basics on our foundation and philosophies. We have strethed our chassis and our wheel base out , lightened the car up , and centered our sprung weight in the vehicle to control balance and center of gravity. We have also re engineered our chassis to distribute the loads and " hits" over a larger area in the bottom of our rig !!

Big air and "casing"  the car on whoops brings a whole new

stress on a tube chassis " rock rig" that was never built to absorb this type of load ! We have been studying desert cars and trucks and have adopted a few techniques that they are using and will incorperate some of that knowledge into this build as well !
